Andrew Prince Brigham is a third generation trial lawyer with over thirty years of experience in complex, high-profile real estate litigation cases. He is best known for work throughout Florida representing property owners and business owners in eminent domain proceedings. His energetic style of practice reflects his view that it is a privilege to protect the civil right of private ownership and that the practice of law is a high professional calling. Andrew also has experience in cases involving property valuation, division, and use. With a passion for protecting private property, he founded Brigham Property Rights Law Firm in 2012.
He is the Florida member of Owners’ Counsel of America, a nationwide network of eminent domain attorneys dedicated to defending property owners. Only one lawyer from each state and the District of Columbia is admitted to OCA and only lawyers that devote their practice primarily to representing owners in property rights and eminent domain matters.
Andrew also serves as chair of the advisory council for the Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Conference sponsored by William & Mary Law School. The conference brings together both the academy and the practicing bar in an annual exchange of scholarship on the virtue and value of property rights. As part of the conference, Andrew has presented internationally at Tsinghua University School of Law in Beijing China and the Universiteit Leiden at the Hague in the Netherlands.
He also co-chairs the national American Bar Institute Continuing Legal Education (ALI-CLE) seminar, Condemnation 101, and the statewide CLE-International seminar, Eminent Domain. These are the preeminent continuing legal education seminars available for practitioners in the field of eminent domain. Consequently, Andrew frequently lectures on eminent domain, property rights, and trial advocacy. He is an AV® Preeminent Rated Lawyer by Martindale Hubbell in Eminent Domain and he was selected for inclusion by Thomson Reuters in the Super Lawyers Editions in business practice areas since 2007. Additionally, he is included in Best Lawyers® and The Best Lawyers in America® for years 2007-2021.
In 2008, Andrew was lead counsel in a case against the Jacksonville Port Authority, where he obtained a jury verdict of $67,410,000. That is the largest in Florida state court eminent domain proceedings to date. In 2013-2018, he was lead counsel obtaining three of the four largest jury verdicts in Florida state court eminent domain proceedings against the Florida Department of Transportation in the same five year period in the amounts of $2,800,000, $2,900,000, and $4,905,000. More recently, in 2019, he served as eminent domain co-counsel in a case resulting in the largest pre-suit settlement with the Florida Department of Transportation in the preceding five years in the amount of $23,000,000. Additionally, Andrew has represented owners in takings cases against NextEra Energy (Florida Power & Light and Gulf Power) and also Florida Gas, Gulfstream, Sabal Trail, and Peoples Gas.
Andrew is a graduate of Wheaton College, Chicago, Illinois (B.A., English Literature, 1988) and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law (J.D. 1991). He was admitted into the Florida Bar in 1991 and is also admitted to practice before the United States Northern, Middle, and Southern District Courts in Florida and the United States Eleventh Circuit Court.
Brett S. Tensfeldt, Esq. View Biography Close BiographyBrett Tensfeldt is a trial lawyer with significant experience in property rights litigation. He has served as co-counsel in several jury trials, including two eminent domain matters in which multi-million-dollar verdicts were achieved. He has further been instrumental in working with clients and valuation experts to obtain substantial settlements in cases that were resolved in advance of trial. Brett is a passionate property rights advocate that has dedicated his career to representing solely property & business owners.
Brett has experience representing clients in both large and small takings cases statewide. His experience includes representing owners in jury valuation trials, as well as at various proceedings that are associated with litigation in eminent domain, inverse condemnation, Bert J. Harris Act claims, and appeals.
He currently serves on the Florida Bar’s Eminent Domain Committee at the appointment of the Bar President, is a member of the Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Conference Advisory Board, and is a proud affiliate member of Owners’ Counsel of America. Brett is the current program co-chair for CLE International’s annual Florida Eminent Domain Conference (CLE-I) and has presented at ALI-CLE’s national Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation seminar.
Brett is a graduate of Florida State University (B.S., Political Science and Communications – Summa Cum Laude), and received his Juris Doctor Degree from the College of William and Mary in Virginia (J.D.). Brett is admitted to the Florida Bar and is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Federal Claims, as well as the United States Middle and Northern Districts of Florida. He currently serves on the Richmond Property Group of the Alpha Tau Omega National Fraternity. Brett is a proud husband, father to two sons, and “dog-dad” to their goldendoodle.
Christopher C. Bucalo, Esq. View Biography Close BiographyChris Bucalo is a lawyer with experience in wide-ranging eminent domain cases. He has established himself as an integral component of a successful trial team, helping protect the rights of Florida property owners & ensuring they receive full compensation. He has experience in both federal and state court jury trials, most recently helping to achieve favorable verdicts for clients affected by the Sabal Trail Natural Gas Pipeline Project.
Raised on the Space Coast of Florida, prior to entering his legal career, Chris was in the mortgage foreclosure industry and spent several years traveling the Caribbean as a member of competitive sport fishing crews. Now that he’s a lawyer, his primary focus is to serve those who face eminent domain challenges, but represents only private property and business owners.

Chris is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, Orlando, Florida (B.A., Business Administration, 2013) and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law (J.D. 2017). During law school, he served as an editor of the Journal of Law and Public Policy, was the President of the Florida Real Property Law Association and achieved the highest-level pro bono certificate for his commitment to pro bono service. Prior to graduation, Chris held a summer clerkship with the Honorable Monte C. Richardson, United States Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Florida.
He was admitted into the Florida Bar in 2018 and is also admitted to practice before the Middle and Northern Districts of the United States District Court in Florida, as well as the Eleventh Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals.
Trevor S. Hutson, Esq. View Biography Close BiographyTrevor Hutson advocates for private property rights representing property owners in eminent domain settings and also has experience assisting landowners and developers in the real estate development process including land use and comprehensive planning, concurrency, zoning matters, and development agreements. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Hutson was a part of one of the largest locally owned private development companies in Northeast Florida. His legal experience in property rights issues, together with his time in practical real estate development, provide a unique perspective in eminent domain cases featuring land use/zoning, development and highest and best use issues. Likewise, his experience in eminent domain, including successful litigation of inverse condemnation cases against government entities, lends credibility to his real estate development practice.
